Heather / Awaiting Baby Parker

Last July I had the pleasure of photographing my dear friend, Heather, while anxiously awaiting the arrival of her baby girl. Heather was a real trooper for our session. It was hot as blazes and she didn't bat an eye when asked to trek into the tall, itchy weeds with the swarming bugs (in strappy wedge shoes, no less). I myself was beet red and pouring sweat in the sweltering 100+ degree heat. All the while, Heather looked stunning and ethereal, with a visible pregnant glow. After shooting in the field, we packed up and headed to a second location nearby, when I happened to spot the beautiful willow tree setting. I'm so glad we pulled a u-turn and snapped a few images there instead. The photo of Heather wrapped gently in the lace under the cascading branches might just be my favorite to date. And I've snapped A LOT of photos. Not just because it's a lovely image (if I may say so myself) but because it embodies grace, femininity, motherhood, love and strength all at once. The strength and endurance of a woman's pregnant body is an amazing thing. I'm so glad she had the courage to embrace it and allow me to document that special chapter. I know many of us, myself included, don't (or didn't) often feel beautiful while pregnant, but it truly is one of THE most beautiful things. LIFE is beautiful.

Thanks to my assistant and second shooter, Marley Bareis, for her helping hands and capturing another {golden} perspective.
