I am my brand. To set myself apart, I wanted something unique to use as my image. Something that is really true to "me" and really approachable. I came across the incredibly talented Annie Brooks of The Wells Makery on Instagram (the power of social media, right?) and just knew she was the perfect artist. Annie is a fabulous bohemian adventurer with THE best hair and style for days. To put it simply, she's effortlessly cool. Her artwork is happy, light and fresh - exactly what I hope to project.
I very intentionally styled this look and had photos done to send Annie. I also paired the images with my introduction entry here, in case you missed it. As you probably have gathered, I have a thing for flowers and this French market tote is one of my favorite props. To shoot outdoors, I often wear a vest (more on why later) and I'm a sucker for Ethereal dresses, especially those with knife pleats. What's even more special is that it was the final session with my photographer friend, who also happened to be my nanny, before she moved to Canada.
I love the travel story behind my piece and I'm so happy Annie shared it with me as the work progressed. She sketched this for me on a flight to Mexico and painted it in a dim Italian Cafe (in Mexico) surrounded by gawking Senoritas. Our final exchange happened while she was in Cuba. Really?! Oh, if only I was as well-traveled as this illustration! *sigh*
I'm completely enamored with the character she created. Don't you think it would be darling on personal brand stationary?! Wouldn't it be a great tattoo?! The possibilities are endless...
